One Huge Tornado

The following pictures were taken by Nathan Herron on his farm near Scott City, Kansas during the summer of 1996.  The sequence illustrates a magnificent and fearsome monster that skirted from southwest to northeast just north of Nathan's farm.
Had the storm tracked a few hundred yards to the south of its path, it would have caused untold damage, and attracted the attention of the nearby sheep.  At this distance, the sheep  are grazing peacefully, seemingly indifferent to to the passing storm.
Nathan is not as indifferent as the sheep. Given the proximity of this nearest shot, one might question how cousin Nathan was able to hold the camera so steadily while running for safety.  He might even lash himself to the nearby tree for protection!

Thanks, cousin Nathan, for these wonderful pictures.
